Swell Motel's Policies
Reservations
All rooms are non-smoking/vaping. Smoking/vaping is permitted in all outdoor areas except for the fenced pool area. Butt containers are provided for your use
All reservations must be guaranteed with a valid major credit card even if you are paying cash at arrival.
Room rates are based on 2 adults. There will be a $20 charged added for each additional guest 12 years old and over.
Children under 12 stay for free when sharing a room with one or more paying adults using existing bedding
Occupancy limit is a total of 4 adults (12 and over) per room.
In order to check in, you must be at least 18 years of age, be able to present a valid government issued photo ID and a credit card in the name of the guest
A valid credit card is required to have on file at time of check in should there be any issues during the stay in which the guest will be responsible for. Damages and other fines will be charged to the card on file.
Check in time is 4 p.m. and check out time is 11.00 a.m. Early occupation may be available if room is cleaned and ready
Cots and playpens are available to rent for $20.00 per stay
Free WiFi, Roku, and NetFlix streaming is available
No refunds will be given for inclement weather, for change of plans, or mandatory evacuations
Room prices do not include taxes. The tax rate is 12.75% which includes 4.75% NC Sales tax, 2% Dare County tax and 6% lodging tax

Cancellation Policy
You have to give us a 48-hour notice if you need to cancel or you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to (1) night stay plus tax and fees charged to your credit card. The 48 hours gives us time to find another guest to occupy that room.
No refunds will be given for inclement weather, change of plans, or mandatory evacuations
Failure to check in on the scheduled arrival date will result in a No-Show fee equal to (1) night stay plus tax charged to the card on file.

ADA Handicapped accessibility
Parking is in front of your room. There are 2 steps up to the porch and then 1 step to get into the room. If you notify us before your stay, we will try to provide assistance onto the porch. We do not currently have wheelchair assessible bathrooms in our rooms.
The office area is not accessible by wheelchair but if you need assistance, we will be happy to accommodate you
Most outdoor amenities are accessible by wheelchair

Pet Policy
We only have a few pet friendly rooms so please call in advance
There will be an additional charge of $20 per night which is included in pet room rates. Call for permission if you have more than 1 pet.
Pets are to be on a leash and under control at all times
Pets are not be left in the rooms unsupervised unless they are trained to do so.
If your pet barks when you are away, you may be called to come back and retrieve them.
Owners must not permit pets to disturb other guests.
If your pet is nervous when you leave, please take them with you.
As always, the pet owner is responsible for any damage caused by their pets will be charged accordingly
Pet waste is to be picked up promptly and disposed of properly. Bags are provided.

Motel Rules
Accommodations and amenities are only for guests of the motel unless pre-approved by management
No additional guests beyond what was booked are permitted in the rooms without management pre-approval
Breaking of the rules may result in removal with no refund
Children under 12 are to be supervised by an adult at all times
All rooms are non-smoking/vaping. Smoking/vaping is permitted in all outside areas except for fenced pool area. Please place your butts in the provided containers, not littered on the property.
No parties or events in or on property without prior approval of management
Occupancy limits is a total of 4 adults. An adult is age 12 and older.
No open flames, heaters, toasters, toaster ovens, hot plates, etc. are permitted in rooms. Microwaves, coffee pots, and outdoor grilling/cooking areas are provided
Guests will be notified prior to entering the room by motel staff if routine maintenance or repairs are required.
Entry is to be permitted for all emergency, illegal activity, and/or unforeseen situations without prior knowledge
No loud voices or vehichles after 10 pm.

Parking
One parking space is provided per room
Boat trailer and extra vehicle parking is available in the middle of the property.
Storage for small watercraft is provided. Please register at office.

Fines:
Participating in any illegal activities is cause for removal by authorities without refund
Guests leaving rooms damaged or if have removed motel property will be charged a minimum $200 fine plus replacement/repair costs and any income loss
Guests damaging towels and/or linens beyond normal wear and tear or taking towels for personal gain will be charged a minimum of $50 to replace.
Guests leaving room filthy requiring extra cleaning services will be charged an additional $200 cleaning fee plus any damage and/or income loss
Smoking/vaping is prohibited in the rooms. If evidence of smoking/vaping is found in the rooms, you will receive a $200 fine for cleaning services and for any income loss.
Destruction of motel or other guest’s property is cause for removal without refund plus you’ll be charged for all required repairs.

Maid Service
If you have any special requests, please let the front desk know and we will do our best to accommodate you
We do not automatically enter your room daily unless requested. Please use the provided doorknob holder where one side says Do Not Disturb and the other says Maid Service Reguested.
If you just want clean towels, please leave your used towels on the chair outside of your door and we will replace with fresh ones.

Pool Rules
The pool is for registered guests only
Pool hours are from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. mid April through mid Oct, weather permitting
Shower before entering
Warning! there is no lifeguard on Duty.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
Adults should not swim alone
No glass or breakable containers are permitted in pool area
No smoking is permitted in pool fenced area
No diving, running, or horse playing
No pets permitted in the fenced pool area

Shared Areas
Grilling / Cooking areas - please clean up after use so the next guest may enjoy
Fish Cleaning Stations - clear of all debris and place fish remains in provided containers
Place trash in provided receptacles and place all cigarette butts in provided containers

Prohibited Conduct
Swimming is prohibited in the creek behind the property
Children under 18 are not permitted to use boat ramp without adult supervision
Only designated grilling/cooking areas are to be used for cooking. No open flames, toaster ovens, cook tops, etc. are permitted in rooms.
Children under 12 are to be adult supervised at all times.
Verbal abuse, violence, or threats of violence against staff members or other guests will not be tolerated and could result in removal without refund

Courtesy
All guests are provided 1 parking space in front of their room. Additional parking is provided in lot located in the center of the property.
Loud noise that disturbs other guests will not be tolerated and could be cause for removal without refund if not immediately addressed
Intoxicated, obnoxiously loud, disorderly people will be asked to leave without refund
Wash sand off yourself before entering rooms and showering
Please remember to clean up after yourselves especially in areas shared by other guests
Fish cleaning stations and outdoor cooking areas should be left tidy for other guests to use
Lost and Found Items left in rooms or on property will be kept safe for 30 days. If not claimed after 30 days, the Motel can dispose of as sees fit. If owner requests the return of their items, shipping charges will apply

Compliance:
We may disclose guest information to law enforcement agencies or may be required to in compliance with applicable laws, regulating rules or ordinances. Under no other circumstance will we share guest information without permission.
